Samsung expands its manufacturing in India and gradually improves its supply chain

According to a survey report released by research firm DIGITIMES, Samsung's Noida plant in India was established in 1996 and has gradually expanded its production line since 2007, transforming from home appliance manufacturing to a major hub for smartphone assembly. With the completion of the expansion in 2017, the Noida plant has further attracted Korean supply chains to enter, significantly enhancing India's manufacturing capabilities.

DIGITIMES analyst Zhou Yan stated that by 2024, the export of Samsung smartphones manufactured in India will expand, and the localization ratio of smartphones and peripheral accessories will gradually increase, indicating that Samsung's supply chain system in India is becoming increasingly perfect.

In terms of models, Zhou Yan stated that Samsung's Noida factory will continue to assemble and manufacture the full range of Samsung smartphones in India in 2024, including the low to mid-range A and M series, flagship S series, and foldable series, after achieving assembly in India in 2023.

DIGITIMES stated that there are signs of expanding production capacity at Samsung's Noida plant. In 2024, the export of mid to high end models of Indian made Samsung phones to the European and Central Asian markets will significantly increase. At the same time, benefiting from India's high tariffs and PLI (Production Incentive Program) subsidy policies, many South Asian countries will follow India's tariff policies and encourage international brands to assemble locally. Among them, Pakistan and Bangladesh have joined Samsung's commissioned production plan.
