On April 15th local time, the US Department of Commerce announced that it will issue new export licensing requirements to China for Nvidia's H20, AMD's MI308 artificial intelligence chip, and similar products.

Nvidia announced on April 15th that it will face a loss of $5.5 billion due to US government restrictions on its H20 artificial intelligence chip exports to China. China is a key market for one of its best-selling chips. Nvidia stated that the US government notified on April 9th that the H20 chip will need to obtain permission to be exported to China, and on April 14th, Nvidia was informed that these regulations will be implemented indefinitely. It is currently unclear how many licenses the US government may issue.
